Bellevue Welcomes Home Billy McGuigan for Original Musical Premiere

Bellevue East Graduate Billy McGuigan Returns Home to Premiere Original  Family Musical at Bellevue Little Theatre

BELLEVUE, Neb. — After more than two decades creating nationally touring productions seen by audiences across North America, Bellevue native and Bellevue East High School graduate Billy McGuigan is coming home.

This August, McGuigan will debut his newest original production, Sgt. Pepper and the Search for the Yellow Submarine, at Bellevue Little Theatre. Written and directed by McGuigan, the family-friendly production marks his first original theatrical premiere in Bellevue.

Inspired by the music of The Beatles, Sgt. Pepper and the Search for the Yellow Submarine follows Sgt. Pepper and his Lonely Hearts Club Band as they embark on a magical, album-by-album adventure to find Lucy after she mysteriously disappears along with the Yellow  Submarine. Blending live music, storytelling, humor, and imagination, the production invites audiences of all ages into a world where each Beatles album becomes its own unforgettable adventure.

The production is presented by Billy McGuigan’s Rave On Productions and the McGuigan  Arts Academy and features young performers working alongside the McGuigan Brothers’  Beatles band. The show serves as the culmination of the Academy’s intensive Summer  Company program, where students spend two weeks rehearsing, designing, and producing a full-scale theatrical production under the guidance of working professionals.

For McGuigan, bringing the premiere to Bellevue carries special significance.

“Bellevue is where my journey began,” said McGuigan. “To be able to bring an original show  back to the community that helped shape me and to share the stage with the next  generation of young performers is incredibly meaningful.”

Performances will take place August 7–9 at Bellevue Little Theatre, 203 W. Mission Avenue in Bellevue. Tickets are available now through the McGuigan Arts Academy.
