On Thursday, October 16, 2025, at approximately 9:57 p.m., the Omaha Police Department (OPD) contacted the  Bellevue Police Department (BPD) regarding a suspect involved in an active suspicious death investigation. The  OPD ABLE-1 helicopter located the suspect’s vehicle in the parking lot of the Walmart Supercenter located at  10504 S. 15th Street, in Bellevue and requested our assistance. Responding officers also received information that the suspect had threatened a family with a firearm in the parking lot.

Upon arrival, officers located the suspect’s vehicle in the parking lot. As officers approached the vehicle, they discovered a lone occupant, later identified as 39-year-old Benjamin Myers, seated in the driver’s seat with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Officers immediately removed the suspect from the vehicle and initiated life-saving measures until Bellevue Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on scene. The suspect was transported to the University of Nebraska Medical  Center (UNMC), where he was later pronounced dead.

Bellevue police stated that at this time, no further information will be released, as the incident remains under active investigation by two separate jurisdictions.
