City Council to Review Wonder Lodging Land Deal Near Bellevue Bay

At next Tuesday’s meeting, the Bellevue City Council will consider an ordinance approving the sale of nearly seven acres of city-owned land tied to the ongoing Bellevue Bay Indoor Waterpark and Good Life District development northwest of the Highway 75 / Highway 34 intersection.

Under Ordinance No. 4218, the city would sell approximately 6.997 acres — officially identified as Lot 2 of the Bellevue Entertainment District — to Wonder Lodging LLC for about $608,739, or $87,000 per acre. The property is planned for hotel development north of the Bellevue Bay Indoor Waterpark, with the hotels connected to the facility by an elevated walkway.

City officials describe the hotel project as a “critical” component of Bellevue’s Good Life District plans because lodging capacity is a central requirement tied to the state-approved entertainment district application.

According to the purchase agreement, Wonder Lodging LLC would need to secure a building permit for the hotel project by April 20, 2027 at the latest. The agreement also states the city will provide right-of-way access for the planned elevated walkway connecting the hotels to the indoor waterpark until construction is complete.

The council agenda notes a request to waive the standard three-reading requirement and potentially vote on the measure the same night.
