February 1983 - Bellevue Public Schools Director of Elementary Education Henry Schuttler proposes a new elementary school be built in the Leawood Oaks neighborhood in Southwest Bellevue. This proposal would lead to the eventual construction of Leonard Lawrence Elementary.

February 1973 - Board of Education approves 20-acre project with the city to develop the land north of Bellevue High for recreational use with a library located on the far north end.
