The First “Mayor’s Spotlight”

Bellevue Times | The First "Mayor's Spotlight" | November 21, 2024

There is no greater honor ever given to me than to represent you, the people of Bellevue.  My family arrived in Bellevue in the late 1800s, I am a fourth generation resident, and I have lived here my entire life.  I take this job very serious and always want to hear your concerns and ideas.

First of all, I want to give my thanks for this new media outlet and specifically to Garrett Sims for being a true champion to Bellevue. He has proven to care greatly for Bellevue and his professionalism in messaging has been great for our community.  I have no doubt you will learn so much about Bellevue by subscribing to this new online newspaper.

During my first term as mayor, the Bellevue Community has bonded together through some catastrophic times including a historic flooding event as well as a worldwide Covid pandemic. However, I can honestly say your city government worked through those issues and still got the business at hand done and greatly advanced our community and put it on a solid foundation now and into the future.

When I took office three years ago, we assembled an administrative team that could get our city in a position to properly fund and man our public safety, public works, permits and inspections, and other city department‘s.  We have not only done that but added many recreational and quality of life features as well.  All this without raising or creating any new taxes.

I look forward to this regular column and can’t wait to start sharing in more detail about the good things going on in Bellevue.  Some of those items will include new industrial projects going in, new family entertainment projects, upcoming Olde Towne Bellevue projects, park improvements, new road and bridge construction, new housing and commercial developments, Offutt Air Force Base updates, proud citizen moments, new retail locations, library updates, museum plans, community celebrations, and so much more.

Be proud Bellevue, we are in great financial shape with a AA+ Moody’s credit rating, we have a vision for our future, we are working on property tax relief, and your administration is ready to make Bellevue an even better place to live, work, and play.

See you soon.
