Amethyst is The Lucky Charm

Did you know?

Amethyst is considered to be a “lucky charm” gemstone for those who work in dangerous jobs as a profession. The ancients believed this beautiful stone had the power to provide aid & protection to soldiers engaged in battle.

February birthstone, Amethyst, occurs in mineral form in many places throughout the United States, but the specimens are rarely considered fine enough for use in jewelry. The purple quartz deposits can be found mainly in Colorado, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Montana & Maine.

In Greek, amethyst means “not drunken.” Ancient Greeks and Romans believed this gemstone’s powers keep the wearer clear-headed and quick-witted. They would even add these crystals to their wine goblets in an attempt to keep from getting drunk.

This beautiful stone is affordable and is stable enough to be cut in all types of shapes and sizes. With the secondary schools in our public school district having purple as their main color, every time I see an amethyst, all I can think of is, “Bellevue”
