Rock Talk: Parade of Gemstones

One of the best parades of gemstones would be the royal walk to church on Christmas Day with Queen Elizabeth and her family. Brooches, earrings, and necklaces galore are worn by Her Majesty the Queen and her family. Every piece worn is intentional, with meaning behind each one.

Since the annual walk was derailed due to Covid, I had to go back to the archives to do my yearly drooling.

One piece that kept a sparkle in my eye was a large pink sapphire surrounded by several rows of diamonds. The Queen wore it a few years ago, but wears it several times a year. She had inherited it from her grandmother, Queen Mary who wore it frequently. In fact, until recently, it was debated whether the stone was a spinel, topaz, or tourmaline.

With the brooch being a sentimental family piece, with it having rich color, and with the brooch being worn frequently, this makes it one of my favorites. Clean and sleek but classy. Here ya go.
