After nearly fifty years of living on Lincoln Road, the Bellevue Public Library has moved to Longo Drive, just east of the intersection of Cornhusker Road and Fort Crook Road South.

Hundreds of people showed up today for the official ribbon-cutting and open house for the new library. “Love the light!” was a phrase heard often while touring the new facility, made in reference to the many windows and sunlight pouring in from outside – a stark contrast to the ‘old’ library building.

Speakers at the ribbon-cutting included Mayor Rusty Hike, Chamber President Diane Bruce, Library Executive Director Julie Dinville, and President of the Library Foundation Michelle Boyce. Members of the city council and planning commission were also present as well as Chief of Police Ken Clary, Fire Chief Perry Guido, and Planning Director Tammi Palm. Several mentioned how it was the best-attended ribbon-cutting they could remember.

It is important to note that although the ribbon-cutting has taken place:

The library officially opens to the public on Monday, October 7th!
