Mayor’s Spotlight: A Look Around Town

Bellevue Times | Mayor's Spotlight: A Look Around Town | November 21, 2024

As we work our way out of winter, a mild one so far, I’m excited to continue working on some exciting projects for Bellevue.  We truly have some groundbreaking opportunities that will benefit our citizens for decades to come.

With the passage of LB 1232 in the state legislature appropriating $20 million for the REACH project, this is sure to set a solid foundation for quality job creation and opportunities in our city.  The second part of the equation is it will help solidify the future of keeping Offutt Air Force Base here in Bellevue.  With the expectation for hundreds of near-future high-paying jobs and a foundation to grow exponentially from there, your administration, City Council, and planning department will be vigilant in getting this off the ground.

The fountain at American Heroes Park

American Heroes Park should see lots of planning action this year as we make way for a quality amphitheater, community center, children’s park, enhanced lake features, and a lookout tower.  This park is becoming a destination attraction with its long flat walking trail, tranquility, fishing, and beautiful scenery.

The park will come alive on June 9th, 10th, and 11th when Sawyer Brown will headline our Bellevue Rocks Riverfront Festival on Saturday night. Friday night will feature ZZ Top and Prince tribute bands and Thursday night will offer local talent entertainment. We also have an amazing carnival running all three days so bring your family down and just enjoy.

I want to thank the residents along South 36th street for putting up with the construction.  There was no easy way to do it but we’ve been able to keep it open and the benefit is going to be awesome when it’s done.

Remember to check out our website for additional information on Bellevue at www.bellevue.net.  We have so many positive things going on and I appreciate The Bellevue Times for providing this space to keep bringing you up-to-date. I’ll be back shortly with more information on our city.

See you soon!
