Lied Activity Center Welcomes 50 New Vendors for Annual Fall Craft Fair

Handmade creations, homemade treats, and a full day of fall shopping will fill the Lied Activity Center this weekend for the annual Fall Craft Fair, taking place Saturday, October 11, from 9am to 3pm. Admission is $5 for adults 18 and over.

This year’s event is shaping up to be one of the biggest yet, with 144 vendors filling 210 booths. According to event planner Christina Gesser, nearly 50 of those vendors are new to the fair.

“The list of vendors I’m excited to see is very long,” Gesser said. “Each vendor sends photos of their work for approval, but I’m always amazed at how much more impressive and special everyone’s items are in person.”

Among the new additions this year are O’Manor Glass Co., known for its unique stained glass pieces; Memories Made in Omaha, featuring locally inspired apparel; New Orleans Snead, serving up Belgian waffles, hot cocoa, and apple cider; and Strong Roots Delicacies, offering gourmet caramel apples.

As always, shoppers can expect a wide variety of handmade and locally crafted items. Booths will feature knit and sewn goods, boutique clothing, jewelry, woodwork, pottery, glass art, candles, baby items, pet treats, and bath and body products, among many others.

Visitors will also notice a few new touches at this year’s fair. “We have a couple of new meals and drinks available from our hot food vendors,” Gesser said. “And I’ve noticed a growing trend in upcycling—some of our new vendors will be offering repurposed and reimagined items, which I think shoppers will love.”

Food options this year range from BBQ, tacos, and chili to Belgian waffles, hot dogs, and Thai food. There will also be plenty of sweet and snackable treats, including popcorn, cookies, sourdough bread, nuts, coffee cake, and freeze-dried candy.

Although there is no ATM on-site, payment methods vary among individual vendors, and most are prepared to accommodate a range of options.

Over the years, the Lied Activity Center Craft Fair has built a strong following among both vendors and shoppers. “People love the variety of vendors and the fact that they can find items they can’t get at big chain stores,” Gesser said. “They also appreciate the chance to shop local and the wide range of price points.”

Looking ahead, Gesser said she’s considering a few improvements to make future events even more enjoyable. “I’ve thought about adding busing from other locations to help with our parking limitations,” she said. “I’ve also thought about offering online ticket sales for convenience.”
