Capehart Southbound Exit to Remain Closed
BELLEVUE, Neb. — Motorists traveling through Bellevue should prepare for additional traffic impacts beginning Monday, Aug. 10, as the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) begins another phase of construction on northbound U.S. Highway 75.
Weather permitting, crews will begin work on northbound U.S. 75 from just south of Fairview Road to just south of Cornhusker Road, a stretch of highway that includes several bridges and one of Bellevue’s busiest commuter corridors.
As part of the project, northbound traffic will be reduced from two lanes to one in two work areas:
- From just south of Fairview Road to the Capehart Road area, and
- From the Highway 370 interchange to just south of the Cornhusker Road exit ramp.
According to NDOT, the lane restrictions are expected to remain in place through winter 2026.
The project includes pavement and bridge repairs, culvert work, grading and guardrail improvements. General Excavating of Lincoln is the contractor. Traffic will be maintained using temporary lane closures and other traffic control devices while work is underway.
Capehart Road exit remains closed
Drivers planning to attend the Defenders of Freedom Air & Space Show should note that the southbound U.S. 75 exit ramp at Capehart Road will remain closed.
An earlier project update indicated the ramp was expected to reopen before the air show. However, NDOT has since confirmed that the reopening is no longer anticipated before the event. The department said it does not currently have an updated timeline for when the southbound exit ramp will reopen.
