Gyro Kings Brings Bold Mediterranean Flavors to Bellevue

What started as a neighborhood favorite in Omaha has made its way to Bellevue, where Gyro Kings is dishing out its signature Mediterranean street food with a bold twist. Known for generous gyro platters, loaded fries, and creamy house-made sauces, the restaurant’s second location blends rich flavors with a warm, family-style welcome.

Owners Mo Abdalla and Faysal Fahmy first launched Gyro Kings two years ago on Saddle Creek Road in Omaha. Both men are Egyptian by heritage and proud of how their friendship and shared passion for authentic street-style food inspired the business.

“I grew up in New Jersey, where there were lots of carts selling gyros and Mediterranean food,” Abdalla said. “In New York, a lot of those carts are run by Egyptians like us. We used to love that food as kids — the variety and the flavor. When I came to Nebraska, I missed it.”

After moving to Nebraska in 2013, Abdalla met Fahmy while running a T-shirt design business at Oak View Mall. “He was working at a gyro spot in the food court,” Abdalla said. “We became good friends, and one day I said, ‘Why don’t we open one together?’ That’s how it all started.”

The Bellevue expansion, located at 2211 Capehart Rd, Suite 101, adds a new partner — Girgis Mankryous, who goes by Z, and serves in the Nebraska National Guard. The team says the decision to open in Bellevue was an easy one. “Bellevue is its own community, its own city,” Abdalla said. “People here really care about their town. And for Z, it’s closer to base — so it just made sense.”

Since opening, the response from local diners has been overwhelmingly positive. “Everybody’s been loving it because it’s different,” Abdalla said. “When people see us drizzle the sauces, it’s like a show — people pull out their phones and start recording.”

Customer favorites include the Combo Platter (#7) — a generous mix of gyro meat and chicken served over rice — and the King’s Loaded Fries (#8), crispy fries piled high with gyro meat or chicken, lettuce, tomato, onions, cucumbers, and feta cheese, then finished with the restaurant’s signature King Sauce. Both dishes have quickly become fan favorites, earning praise for their generous portions, bold flavors, and colorful presentation.

Gyro Kings’ Bellevue location currently offers dine-in and takeout, with online ordering available through DoorDash, and plans to add Uber Eats and Grubhub soon. They will also be taking advantage of the built-in drive-thru window, which should be operational soon.

A grand opening celebration is expected once their exterior sign is installed and city approvals are finalized later this month. Until then, the owners are simply grateful for the warm welcome. “We just want to bring something fresh, something real — and keep giving people that bold flavor they’ll remember.”
