At a July council meeting, the Bellevue City Council approved the rezoning and development of a new mixed-use subdivision northwest of 36th and Cornhusker Road. The new development will sit on approximately 59 acres of what was formerly zoned agricultural land.

From Bellevue Times story in Feb. 2024: “At Bellevue’s City Council meeting Tuesday evening, the City of Bellevue entered into an agreement with the Prairie Hill Farm Development Authority to oversee the evolution of the new Prairie Hill Farm “village-within-a-village” project. The project includes the REACH building (Research, Engineering, Architecture Collaboration Hub), a $200 million dollar investment that will be a national cybersecurity hub. All told, the total cost of the development may reach $600 million. The council unanimously voted to approve the agreement.”

Asha’s House is a place where individuals with disabilities will come to be cared for in a safe environment, allowing their parents/guardians to have overnight respite.


BPS Frank Kumor Career Center

From the Bellevue Public Schools District: “The Frank Kumor Career Center is the home to four career programs and was constructed using funds from the 2016 Bellevue Public Schools bond initiative. Additional funds have been secured from the Department of Defense Education Activities (DoDEA), the Bellevue Public Schools Foundation, and other local business partners to support the career center programs. Mr. Frank Kumor was a trustee on the Bellevue Board of Education and Bellevue Public Schools Foundation. His commitment to our students, schools, and community was legendary, and his service to our community knew no bounds.”

From a 2022 Bellevue Times story: “The new Bellevue Readiness Center will be located northeast of the intersection at 25th and Capehart Roads and next to the Willow Lakes Gold Course. Construction on the $36.3 million project is expected to be completed in Fall of 2024. The facility will be more than 100,000 square feet and sit on 40 acres of land.

The federal government earmarked $29 million for the project, while the state of Nebraska added $8 million. The City of Bellevue will be working on improving access to the new facility and infrastructure in the area.”

McDonald’s is building their 4th Bellevue location near 25th and Capehart Road. The new fast food restaurant will join the other Bellevue McDonald’s locations at 36th & Highway 370, 21st & Cornhusker, and Galvin Road South.

From the Nebraska Department of Roads: “Starting Monday, August 19, work will begin on US-75 between US-34 and I-80, weather permitting. Drivers should expect various overnight lane and ramp closures through spring 2025. Please slow down and stay alert in work zones.”


Olde Towne – Mission Avenue between Washington and Jefferson

Bridge Flats is a mixed-use development set to go where the former Bellevue City Hall once stood. The development would have 53 luxury rental units and about 18,000 square feet of street-level retail space. Originally set to start preliminary work in late 2022, Mercury Builders, who have owned the property since 2020, had one of their initial investors back out and have been working to find another investor.
