As of 9:30 a.m. this morning, OPPD still reports 47,000 customers throughout the area and over 6,300 customers in Sarpy County alone without power. OPPD and mutual aid crews will continue to work on complex restoration work today. Outage numbers will fluctuate due to new outages caused by trees, limbs, or other objects weakened by the storm, giving way and interfering with power equipment. The City of Bellevue will keep both Tree Dump drop-off sites at 8902 Cedar Island Road near the Rose Lane intersection and the vacant lot near the baseball fields at Haworth Park open through the end of the day today (Sunday, August 4, 2024).
Starting Monday, August 5, only the Haworth Park drop-off location will remain open during daylight hours through the end of the day on Sunday, August 11. The Cedar Island Road drop-off location will close to the public because it is running out of room to stack the large amount of tree debris that has been dropped off while still having a suitable work area for city crews and safe access for the public.
Since many Bellevue residents are still without power, the Lied Activity Center and the Bellevue Public Library will serve as cooling/charging centers today. The Lied Center at 2700 Arboretum Dr. will be open from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., and the Bellevue Library at 1003 Lincoln Drive will also be open from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
