Drivers who frequent Capehart Road will soon see new detours as Sarpy County begins the next phase of construction at the busy intersection of Capehart Road and 48th Street.
Beginning Monday, October 13, Capehart Road will be closed to through traffic between 45th and 48th Streets while crews advance work on the ongoing corridor improvement project. The closure is expected to remain in place through late November, county officials said.
During this time, westbound traffic should use 36th Street to Highway 370, while eastbound traffic will be detoured to Highway 370 via 72nd Street. Access will remain open for local residents and businesses in the immediate area.
The construction work is part of a major, multi-phase Sarpy County infrastructure project aimed at improving traffic flow and safety along the corridor. Once complete, the project will feature a five-lane divided cross-section of Capehart Road, a new traffic signal at the 48th Street intersection, a dedicated left-turn lane to 48th Street, and the addition of curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and a modern storm sewer system.
County officials expect the overall project to continue through the spring of 2026.
Motorists are encouraged to plan alternate routes and allow for extra travel time while work is underway. Updates on the project and future closures will be shared through Sarpy County’s official communication channels and social media pages.
