Oscar Salazar, of Bellevue, was sentenced Aug. 10 in Sarpy County District Court to 20-40 years in prison for one count of murder in the second degree and 20-40 years in prison for one count of unlawful/intentional discharge of a firearm.
As part of the ruling by Judge Nathan Cox, Salazar is ordered to serve each count consecutively. Based on this sentence and the good time laws of Nebraska, Salazar will serve a minimum of 21.5 years in prison before he will be eligible for parole.
The Bellevue Police Department arrested Salazar, 20, in January 2025 for the shooting death of Jaydon Palma, 21, of Bellevue.
The Sarpy County Attorney’s Office charged Salazar with first-degree murder, use of a firearm to commit a felony, unlawful/intentional discharge of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a prohibited juvenile offender, and stalking.
Salazar entered pleas in May 2026 of no contest to second-degree murder and unlawful/intentional discharge of a firearm.
