What started as a social media conversation in 2016 has grown into one of the best-attended events in Bellevue. Trick or Treat Olde Towne continues this year despite losing its long-running organizer Margie Guy. The idea for a trick-or-treat event in Olde Towne Bellevue was discussed on a Bellevue social media page years ago. Guy, who at the time owned A Bridal Boutique and Tux in Olde Towne Bellevue, decided to bring it to life. Guy organized the community event for seven years. She moved out of town earlier this year but wanted to make sure that the event kept going.

“Margie Guy ran it for years. With her moving out of town, she reached out to the Bellevue Police Department to see if they would be interested in running the event,” said Phil Davidson with the Board of Directors for the Bellevue Community Foundation. “The police department reached out to us at the Community Foundation because we have a pretty good track record of running events like this. They asked if we would take the lead and they would support us and the event.”

The inaugural Trick or Treat Olde Towne was held on Sunday, October 30, 2016. Before the event, talk was that maybe 500 costumed kids would attend. After the event, actual attendance was closer to 1,500. The event has steadily grown over the years and event planners estimate there will be closer to 2,500 this year.
