On Monday, March 31st, 2025, at approximately 4:16 a.m., Bellevue Police Officers responded to a residence in the 2800 block of Kansas Drive, regarding a physical domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers located a male lying on the ground inside the residence, with apparent stab wounds to his body. Bellevue medical personnel responded and forty- three (43) year old, Jeffrey A. Hettinger was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers also located a twenty-six (26) year old female on scene, who appeared to be involved in the disturbance. The female reported a complaint of pain to her nose but refused medical attention. She was immediately detained without incident and transported to the Bellevue Police Station for questioning. The female was later transported to a metro area medical facility for a medical evaluation, not related to any physical injuries.
The Bellevue Police said that the incident is still under investigation, and no further details will be released at this time. “It is believed that all individuals involved have been accounted for, therefore, we do not believe there is any danger to the public.”

The above-mentioned female, identified as Josephine Baker, of Bellevue, has been released from the medical facility where she was receiving treatment. After further investigation, Baker was placed under arrest and booked into the Sarpy County Jail for 2nd Degree Murder, Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony, 1st Degree Arson, and 1st Degree Domestic Assault.
