Bellevue Times | Victor Rountree Announces Candidacy for State Legislature | November 21, 2024

Today, Victor Rountree announced he will seek election in 2024 to Nebraska’s 3rd Legislative District. This seat includes parts of both Papillion and Bellevue located in Sarpy County and is currently held by Senator Carol Blood who is term-limited.

“I’m running for the Nebraska Legislature because we need honest representation that prioritizes our community over partisan politics. We can’t let special interests divide and distract us from the real issues facing working families in Nebraska,” said Rountree. “As a pastor and service leader I’m hearing the hardships that people are going through. I’m ready to get to work and create solutions for Nebraskans.”

Rountree is a retired United States Air Force Chief Master Sergeant with over 30 years of service. While at Offutt Air Force Base, he supported multiple deployments and operations through detailed financial management and budgeting, which is exactly the experience the Legislature needs. Rountree has been recognized with the Air Force Organization of Excellence Award and is a decorated veteran.

In the Legislature, Rountree will promote policy that strengthens our public schools, supports local businesses to create good-paying jobs for families, and increases government efficiency to cut taxes for hard-working families.

Rountree has continued his commitment to community service through his 12 years as a Senior Pastor where he has provided community outreach and ministries. His congregation donates school supplies to Betz Elementary School and regularly supports the Bellevue Food Pantry to help those who are food insecure. Rountree enjoys sharing his ministry services within the community and its organizations, including Hillcrest Health and Rehab.

Rountree has an extensive educational career. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Maryland and graduated from the United States Air Forces (USAF) in Europe NCO Academy. Afterwards, Rountree began his career as a Superintendent of Financial Services for the USAF in North Dakota where he excelled in the financial management field. His commitment to service led him to quickly climb the ranks and become Superintendent for the 55th Comptroller Squadron in Nebraska.

He and his wife Cheryl have been married for 41 years and have three children and one grandchild.
