Bellevue University will host the El Camino Latino Conference on Feb. 25, 2022.

The conference aims to connect high school seniors with Omaha’s top corporations and their opportunities. The free event will be held in-person from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the John B. Muller Administrative Services Building, 812 Bruin Blvd., on the campus of Bellevue University.

“We want the El Camino Latino Conference to inspire, empower and help prepare area Latino high school seniors as they embark on their educational next chapter,” Gina Ponce, Director of Latino Community Outreach at Bellevue University, said.

Attendees will hear from four companies including: Google, Methodist Health System, Hawkins Construction and Union Pacific Railroad. The conference will also include panels where students will hear from college students about their experiences and professionals from the Omaha area working in a variety of different career fields.

The conference will feature keynote speaker Armando Salgado. Salgado is a business owner who has founded multiple businesses including LingoDocs Marketing, USMEX Express, Zianya Properties LLC, MultiLevel Contractors, LLC and Lingo HR & Accounting, LLC. He is also an adjunct instructor at Metropolitan Community College in Omaha where he teaches business and construction to small business owners in both English and Spanish. He earned a double major in International Studies and Spanish from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

The last day to register is Monday, Feb. 22. This is the second year Bellevue University has hosted the conference.

The El Camino Latino Center serves students, their families and the Latino community. It is located on the campus of Bellevue University inside the Freeman/Lozier Library.
