OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. — Retiree Appreciation Day is back!
For the first time since 2019, Team Offutt will host the Retiree Appreciation Day from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Oct. 14, 2023, at the Offutt Exchange.
Retiree Appreciation Day was held for 50 straight years until the COVID pandemic forced its cancellation in 2020.
“We value the relationship we have with our retirees and so we’re incredibly honored to be able to bring back this great event,” said Col. Mark Howard, 55th Wing commander. “We never want to forget the sacrifices they made for our country, so it is our absolute honor to have them out for what should be very informative and useful for them.”
The event will once again include a variety of free services to retirees, spouses, widows and widowers from more than 20 organizations from both on and off-base.
“We are still finalizing our overall list of organizations who will participate, but we want to make sure we have a good variety that will be of importance to our attendees,” said 2nd Lt. Tylor Knox, 55th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and event organizer.
With more than 26,000 retirees in the local area, Knox said they want to get the word out early on the event so that everyone can get it on their calendar.
“Since it has been four years since the last one, we really want to make sure everyone knows it is back and that we can’t wait to see them,” he said. “We want to see this return to an annual event that our valued retiree community can count on.”
