By Laura Mischke, Head of Adult Services at the Bellevue Public Library
Registration for the Bellevue Public Library Adult Library Program (ALP), “Find Your Voice,” began April 1, 2023, and continues until the conclusion of the program, May 15, 2023, at bellevue.beanstack.org. Have fun and win prizes when you track your reading, complete take-home kits, and attend events in the library.
Just by registering you will be entered into a drawing for 5 weekly prizes. By participating you will earn virtual tickets that you can place in the grand prize drawing of your choice. Grand prizes are a yoga basket; a photography basket including a Canon EOS 4000 DSLR camera; a sewing basket including a Singer Simple sewing machine; and two Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 32 GB tablets.
Special events include yoga classes, a cottage food training class, kitty cafes, and Humanities Nebraska presentations on topics ranging from Andrew Carnegie to fashion. Classes will be held in our makerspace on using the 3D printer, heat press, and laser cutter. Or, save money and complete your spring cleaning by participating in one of the Friday afternoon swaps.
Be sure to pick up an Adult Library Program calendar at the library and check the Bellevue Public Library online calendar (www.bellevuelibrary.org) for a complete list of activities and individual event registrations.
Also, celebrate National Library Week with your Sarpy County Libraries! During the week of April 23-29, pick up a passport booklet from your local library. Then visit Bellevue, Gretna, Papillion, and Springfield libraries to get a stamp on your passport. For extra fun, visit Gretna’s Children’s Library and the Digital Library at Papillion Landing. Stay and do an activity if you have time. Once you receive one stamp from each of the four Sarpy County libraries, you will be entered in a drawing to win a prize from your local library. Pick up a National Library Week calendar from your library to see what activities are available at each location. From Bike Rodeos (with free bicycle helmets), to Adult Dungeons and Dragons, to Movie Nights, to Wind Tunnel Experiments, there is something of interest for families to enjoy.
