On Thursday, March 13th, 2025, at approximately 10:26 p.m., Bellevue Police Officers responded to an apartment building in the 1400 block of south Galvin Road, regarding a shot being fired. Upon arrival, officers located a twenty-one (21) year old male, who had sustained a gunshot wound during a physical altercation with a twenty-three (23) year old male. The male later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by medical personnel. The deceased individual has been identified as George Negrete, of Bellevue.

Update

After further investigation, the other involved subject has been identified as twenty-three (23) year old Christian Lara of Bellevue. Negrete and Lara are familiar with one another; therefore, this was not a random act of violence. As stated previously, Negrete and Lara had been involved in a physical altercation in the hallway of an apartment building. This altercation resulted in Lara assaulting a twenty (20) year old female and shooting Negrete in the leg with a rifle, which resulted in his death. The female received minor injuries and refused medical attention.

After being treated and released from the hospital for the injuries he sustained during the physical altercation, Lara was arrested without incident and is being lodged at the Sarpy County Jail for Terroristic Threats, Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony, 2nd Degree Assault, and 2nd Degree Murder. No further information has be released.
