Police Investigate Wednesday Morning Shooting in Bellevue

On Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 9:40 a.m., officers responded to the Family Dollar Store, located at 25th Street and Chandler Road, in Bellevue, regarding a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, an officer located a 29-year-old male victim, with a gunshot wound to his leg. He was transported to a metro area hospital for treatment. His injury is not considered to be life-threatening at this time. 

The shooting suspect has been identified as 26-year-old, Di’Quarius Merritt, of Bellevue. After the shooting, the suspect fled the scene on foot. The suspect has not been apprehended at this time and should be considered armed and dangerous. It is believed that the suspect is armed with a handgun. If anyone sees the suspect, please do not approach him, call 911. A picture of the suspect has been provided below. This is all the information that will be released at this time, as the specific details that led to the shooting, are still under investigation.
