Omaha Bakery Closes Doors in Bellevue and Elkhorn

The Omaha Bakery in Bellevue has officially closed its doors.
The Omaha Bakery opened its Bellevue location in 2021, moving from 72nd and Howard in Omaha. Original owner Michelle Kaiser built her bakery on long nights, early mornings, and embracing the Keto craze. The Omaha Bakery was well known for a wide assortment of Keto-related cakes and treats.
Kaiser was always looking to innovate. After moving to Bellevue, she offered a “Build-Your-Own” Cinnamon Roll Bar. She also started a summer camp, offering baking lessons to youth in the community. The Omaha Bakery was a frequently voted Best of Bellevue – Best Bakery, and Kaiser always gave back to the community.
In early 2024, Kaiser decided it was time to retire and sold her business to Mohammad Ghaforzai. Ghaforzai has quite a story of his own, fighting against all odds as a combat interpreter for American soldiers in Afghanistan. Ghaforzai earned several US commendations for bravery and was set to have his family immigrate to the United States in return for his service to the country. You can read the full story here – and learn of the hell and heartbreak Ghaforzai went through in his fight to reunite with his family.
Rumors of the closing had been floating around for the past couple weeks, but the store remained open until this past weekend. Ghaforzai confirmed with the Bellevue Times last night that they have now officially closed. “It was really hard for me,” Ghaforzai said. “I’m really grateful for the community and their support.”
Ghaforzai mentioned that some negotiations are going on with a former manager, and it is possible that a new bakery would open in a different spot in Bellevue.
The Omaha Bakery location in Elkhorn closed in February.
