Bellevue, Neb. – The Bellevue Chamber of Commerce & Community will host Nebraska’s Official
Veterans Day Parade on Saturday, November 9, 2024, in Olde Towne Bellevue at 10:00 a.m.

The Veterans Day Parade is a long-standing tradition for Bellevue. It celebrates and honors past and
current veterans who have dedicated their lives to defending our freedom. Diane Bruce, Bellevue
Chamber of Commerce President & CEO said, “This is a long-standing tradition in Bellevue to show our
military community our appreciation for them and all they’ve sacrificed for our country.”

The parade kicks off with a Dignitary Breakfast. This event is invitation-only and honors the parade’s
Grand Marshal, Major Verl Chase Jr. (USAF retired) and the Student Essay Contest Winner, Evalynn Kinchler from Bertha Barber Elementary School.

Major Chase joined ROTC in high school before joining the Air Force upon graduation. He attended Officer Training School at Bolling AFB in Washington D.C. He had the honor of witnessing President Kennedy board Air Force One many times and witnessed the arrival of his casket after he was killed. Major Chase worked as a missile launch control officer at Grand Forks AFB and was stationed at SAC Headquarters for the final nine years of his career.

Major Chase, along with his wife, Mrs. “C”, bought a small tailor shop and radio/TV shop by the Offutt
back gate. After remodeling the building, C & C Tailor Shop began operation and expanded into
Monogram & Embroidery. They operated the shop for 35 years before health conditions led to its
closing. Major Chase lost his beloved wife in March 2020 but still does computerized embroidery for a
few long-term loyal customers.

The parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the National Anthem and a flyover, after which it will move
down Mission Avenue. Entries include local businesses and non-profits, schools, and military personnel.
This event is free and open to the public.
