On July 29, 2024 at approximately 7:30pm, Bellevue Officers were dispatched to American Heroes Park, located in Olde Towne Bellevue. An adult female reported that she was jogging on the path around the lake, when she ran by a dark colored SUV that was occupied by a white male with long brown hair. As she ran by, the male got out of the driver’s seat and walked to the passenger side of the vehicle. He then pulled his pants and underwear down and began to touch himself. The female ran to her vehicle at which time the suspect got in his vehicle and fled the area. The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division, which obtained surveillance video of the suspect vehicle.
On August 1, 2024, Bellevue Detectives cited 34-year-old Matthew James Gogarty of Bellevue for Public Indecency, which is a Class II Misdemeanor. He was released after signing the citation and is scheduled to appear in Sarpy County Court on September 18, 2024, at 9:00am.
Gogarty is listed on the Registered Sex Offenders list for prior acts of indecency in both California and Indiana.
