Scouts BSA Troop 231 B & G Holiday Light Recycle Drive
By: Isabella Elge, Life Scout, Scouts BSA Troop 231 G
Christmas lights burn out and break during the holiday season, then thrown away and sent to landfills. If your festive strands have burned out, broken, or been collecting dust, starting November 1, 2022, Scouts BSA Troops 231 B & G invite you to recycle them at one of our collection sites so we can dispose of them properly for you!
These festive strings of lights contain plastic, glass, copper, mercury, and lead, all of which can harm the environment. One of Scouting’s principles is to be clean in our outdoor manners, so we would like to help keep our environment clean and beautiful; we have found this is a great way to do that!
You are welcome to drop off your lights in the collection bins at one of the following locations from November 1, 2022-January 15, 2023: Bellevue Public Library, LaVista Public Library, Sump Memorial Library, Plattsmouth Public Library, St. James United Methodist Church East and West in Bellevue, St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Bellevue, Bellevue District 3 Fire Station, Papillion Landing, and Papillion City Hall.
We thank you for your consideration, and you may contact us with questions and comments at: [email protected].
