Summer is right around the corner and so is Bellevue Public Library’s 2023 Summer Library Program. This year’s theme is “Find Your Voice.”
Children’s Librarian Michelle Bullock and Assistant Children’s Librarian Brandi Kanawyer are excited to share this time with the children and families in our community. They have created an exciting calendar filled with programs, presenters, and drop-in activities.
It includes all the programs families have come to love – Choose Your Own Adventure Lunch & Book Club, Kids in the Kitchen, Maker Lab, Pre-K STEAM, and Storytimes. There will also be a Sun & Star Party with the Omaha Astronomical Society at American Heroes Park, (two) Kitty Cafés, as well as speakers from the Omaha Conservatory of Music, Sing Omaha, The Rose Theater, and Bellevue Dance Academy.
In total, there are 90 unique and repeat programs planned for children, birth through grade 6, during this year’s SLP!
This Summer Library Program is for children & teens, ages birth through 2023 high school graduates, and runs from June 1 through July 31 (more information on the Teen program will be available soon).
Registration through the Beanstack app is required and opens on Wednesday, May 31. Don’t have a Beanstack account? No problem! Download the free app on your device or visit bellevue.beanstack.org. Register as an adult and add children as readers.
Kids earn virtual badges and points when they enter books they’ve read and program secret codes. Those points can be redeemed for prizes and free books. Each 10 points earned enters the child into a virtual drawing for one of eight amazing grand prizes! Three lucky participants will be chosen weekly to receive goodie bags.

Also, the Kids Cruisin’ Kitchen (KCK) meal program sponsored by the Omaha Salvation Army will be available May 31-Aug. 4. KCK will be at the library Monday-Friday from 12:15 to 1 p.m. with hot, nutritious meals available, free of charge, to children 18 years of age and younger. Meals are served on the library lawn, and all food must be consumed at the site. Please note there will be no meals served June 19 and July 4.
