Bellevue Public Schools and Bellevue West High School is pleased to announce the new head coaches for wrestling and bowling.
Nolan Barry will serve as the new head coach for boys wrestling beginning the 2024-25 school year. Barry was an assistant wrestling coach at Bellevue East from 2019-2022 and has been an assistant on the Bellevue West wrestling staff for the past 2 years.
Barry was a 4-time state wrestling qualifier and 2-time state medalist during his time in high school at Adams Central. Barry received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and is a math teacher at Bellevue West.
Barry takes over for Tyler Hodges, who is resigning this year after serving as head coach for Bellevue West from 2022-2024.
“We are excited to welcome Coach Barry as he will lead our boys wrestling program with great passion and purpose, and thank you to Coach Hodges for your time at Bellevue West” said Jon Mauro, activities director/assistant principal.
Laura Scott will serve as the new head coach for bowling at Bellevue West beginning the 2024-25 school year. Scott has been teaching at Bellevue West for the past 10 years, previously leading the softball program from 2014-2019.
Scott is a social studies teacher at Bellevue West and brings a wealth of knowledge from working with athletes over the past decade.
Scott takes over for Phil Burlingame, who is retiring this year after serving as head coach and special education teacher at Bellevue West. Burlingame served 27 years in Bellevue Public Schools.
“We would like to thank Coach Burlingame for his years of service and dedication to Bellevue Public Schools, and are thrilled to welcome Coach Scott in leading our bowling program with the same character, passion, and leadership,” said Jon Mauro, activities director/assistant principal.
