Bellevue University to Help Businesses Hire Veterans at March 24 Event

Bellevue Times | Bellevue University to Help Businesses Hire Veterans at March 24 Event | March 12, 2025

Bellevue University, in partnership with local area Chambers, will host Hiring Heroes, a seminar to help employers recruit and retain veterans, military spouses, and active-duty service members.

The event will take place on Monday, March 24, from 9 a.m. to noon at Bellevue University’s John B. Muller Administrative Services Building, Symposium Room (812 Bruin Blvd., Bellevue, NE 68005).

For businesses looking to hire skilled, dedicated employees, this event will introduce three programs designed to connect employers with military-affiliated job seekers.

The SkillBridge Program helps service members transition into civilian careers by allowing them to train with companies during their final months of military service. Since they are still on active duty, employers can bring them on board without the usual hiring costs, creating a low-risk way to test out potential new employees before they officially leave the military.

Hiring Our Heroes is a nationwide effort that helps connect veterans, military spouses, and service members with businesses that are ready to hire. It offers career fairs, job-matching programs, and even fellowship opportunities where employers can bring in military-affiliated professionals for hands-on experience before making a full-time job offer.

The Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP) focuses on a group that is often overlooked—military spouses. Because of frequent relocations, many struggle to find stable employment, even though they have strong skills and experience. This program works with companies that want to tap into this underutilized talent pool and provide meaningful career opportunities for military spouses.

In addition to learning about these programs, attendees will hear from companies already using them and service members who have successfully transitioned into civilian careers through these opportunities.

A light breakfast will be provided at no cost. Employers and HR professionals interested in attending can secure their spot here by March 17.
