Bellevue Rocks As Population Continues to Increase

Bellevue Rocks Riverfront Festival 2022 Bellevue Nebraska Sawyer Brown Crowd 2

Nothing is guaranteed, and the passing of Councilman Stinson reminds us of that. Bob’s service to Bellevue was remarkable, with 26 years in the BPD and 19 years with the BVFD. His professionalism on the council and his concern for our citizens made us all better, and he is truly missed.

Bellevue Rocks – Riverfront Festival was a huge success attracting thousands to our beautiful American Hero’s Park. It was great to see so many of our residents getting together and so many people from the surrounding areas visiting our city. The Bellevue Community Foundation did a fantastic job planning the event and organizing hundreds of volunteers to pull this annual showcase event off. Kudos to all those volunteers and our sponsors; it can’t happen without you. Going forward, the event will be scheduled for the weekend before Father’s Day every year.

As of June 3rd, Normandy Hills and Cedar View, along with much of the surrounding properties, were annexed into the city, increasing our population to 64,989. As our city grows to the south, we are working in unison with the South Sarpy Sewer infrastructure to bring additional water service into that area. The city continues to work with several developers in this area to finalize plans that will be announced in the future.

Did you know Bellevue has 55 parks with approximately 750 total acres accounting for a little more than 14% of Bellevue’s total territory? That is three times more park land than the average city our size. Just think about how much ground maintenance that is for our Parks Department. This has led us to rethink what parks our residents need, or want, and how to efficiently maintain them, so we hired Lamp Rynearson to do a study for a master parks plan. The study is well underway and our citizens can have input into the park’s plan by going to www.dotellbellevue.com.

See you soon!
