It’s been another exciting month for Bellevue. The good news keeps coming for development south of the base and all other areas of the city.
The Highway 34 corridor and the interchange at Highway 75 are getting a lot of attention. Under the provisions of LB 840, Bellevue was able to invest in a piece of land to kick off a major project for the area which promises to bring lots of development and high-paying jobs. LB 840 is on the ballot again this primary. It is Proposition 1 and Bellevue will benefit greatly from its continued use, so please support and vote for Proposition 1.
In the next week or so, you will be receiving your Bellevue Annual Report. In the report, you will see what your city has been up to with some hints of what is to come. One of the things I’m excited for you to see is our city’s new logo. Our existing logo has been in use for about 40 years and we felt it was time for an upgrade. Something that shows Bellevue’s Global presence. From Fort Crook to SAC to STRATCOM, the Fighting 55th, Global Weather, and all the Warriors that come through Bellevue and remain in Bellevue, we really do have a global presence. Along with this logo, our new tagline will be, “We Influence the World”.
In other news, our new library plans are underway as well as plans for the future use of the old library. Julie Dinville and her staff are looking forward to the new facilities and being able to bring our citizens many great upgrades. Administrator Ristow has been busy negotiating the city’s union contracts and is pleased to report that all five contracts have been negotiated out for the next four years. Offutt has confirmed the new runway will be open this coming September. The Bellevue Community Foundation is finalizing plans with the city for Bellevue Rocks the Riverfront on June 9th, 10th, and 11th which will feature a huge carnival with a midway, Sawyer Brown, ZZ3, and Purple Madness. Bellevue Parks and Recreation continues to look for seasonal employees to keep our pools open and recreation leagues going.
