Bellevue East High School Names New Boys Head Wrestling Coach
Bellevue Public Schools and Bellevue East High School is pleased to announce the new head coach for boys wrestling.
Jake Nieman will serve as the new head coach for boys wrestling and PE teacher beginning the 2024-25 school year. Nieman is a recent graduate coming to Bellevue East from Waterloo, Iowa where he served in multiple assistant coaching positions.
“I am greatly excited to continue my professional career as the new Physical Education Teacher and Head Wrestling Coach at Bellevue East High School, said Nieman. “As a lifelong participant in wrestling, I possess a large passion for athletic and character development in youth athletes.”
Nieman received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa. In high school, he was a state place winner and Fargo qualifier for Iowa. During Nieman’s time in college, he coached wrestling at Waterloo West and Independence community school districts.
Nieman takes over for Matt Malcom, who is resigning this year after serving as head coach for Bellevue East from 2022-2024.
“We are excited to welcome Coach Nieman as he will lead our boys wrestling program with great enthusiasm, and thank you to Coach Malcom for your time at Bellevue East” said Chad Holtz, activities director/assistant principal.
