Annual Lied Activity Center Spring Craft Fair Set for Saturday, March 15

This Saturday, March 15th, marks the eagerly awaited annual Lied Activity Center Spring Craft Fair. Since its inception in 2016 this event has grown each year, transforming into a premier gathering and solidifying its status as one of the largest of its kind not only in Sarpy County but across the entire Omaha-Metro area.

The upcoming fair continues to expand, boasting 177 different vendors (up from 120 last spring). This sets a new record for their largest spring fair yet.

Christina Gesser took over as event planner for the Lied Activity Center Craft Fair in the Fall of 2022. This marks her sixth LAC Craft Fair, and she said she continuously learns from her experiences with the previous fairs. “I have learned that our community has amazing talent. I am continuously blown away by the number of people interested in becoming vendors, I just wish we had room for everyone,” Gesser said. “I have also learned that organization and flexibility are imperative to success. Something comes up at every event where we need to make adjustments. I also try to share as much information with the vendors before the fair as possible, in hopes that this may ease any first-time jitters and/or minimize unexpected surprises.”

Gesser estimated that around 50 of the vendors are new to the LAC Craft Fair this spring. “We had 85 booths at that first craft fair, and now we have more than doubled the amount of vendor spaces.”

Gesser talked about the new vendors and the unique variety of offerings they each bring to the craft fair. A few that came to mind as we were talking include SR Pumpkin and Flower Farm – Offering fresh cut tulips; Gypsy Plum – Offering Women’s apparel, accessories, and home goods; Bellevue West Fiber Friends Club – Offering Handmade products by high school students; and Frac That – Offering Custom Furniture.

The Lied Activity Center 2025 Spring Craft Fair is on Saturday, March 15 from 9am-3pm. The Lied Activity Center is located at 2700 Arboretum Drive on the Bellevue Public Schools campus, near Fort Crook Road and Highway 370. Admission to the fair is $5 for adults.

The LAC Spring Craft Fair will be offering a wide variety of items including jewelry, home decor, boutique clothing, sewn, crocheted, and knitted items, paintings, drawings, art, garden decor, cards, journals, holiday decor, health & wellness, candles & wax warmers, pet accessories, and food, snacks, and desserts.

They currently have several food vendors offering a wide variety, including shrimp and grits, turkey chili, tacos, nachos, kebabs, Thai food, shaved ice, and iced teas, as well as sweet treats, including breads, cupcakes, cookies, freeze-dried candy, and jams. It is a good idea to come prepared with multiple ways to pay for purchases. While some vendors accept debit and credit cards, some are cash only and there is no ATM available at the event. Each vendor is given the flexibility to decide what types of payments they will accept.

Over 1,700 people usually attend the event, and Gesser has received a lot of positive feedback from the community. “I’ve heard people love seeing items they don’t normally see; they appreciate the variety of items our vendors offer,” said Gesser.

Looking to the future Gesser discussed more ideas for expansion, “We’d love to add more vendors in the batting cage room, but we are still working out the best way to introduce that addition. That would give us 15-20 more booths, so hopefully we can make this happen soon!”
