The Sarpy County Museum is celebrating the holiday season with two community-focused events aimed at spreading cheer and giving back.
Beginning November 12 through December 14, the museum will host a Giving Tree in partnership with the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce and Boyd Jones Construction. The tree, built entirely of donated canned goods, will benefit the Bellevue Food Pantry. Community members are encouraged to drop off nonperishable food items—including soups, peanut butter, pasta, cereal, and more—Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 2402 Clay Street in Bellevue.
As a thank-you to the community, the museum will also host a Holiday Open House on Sunday, December 7, at 2 p.m. The afternoon will feature Czech holiday traditions and stories presented by Colleen Kurmel of the Czech museum, along with refreshments, festive displays, and the drawing of the museum’s raffle quilt winner. Admission is free, but RSVPs are requested at www.sarpycountymuseum.org.
“These events are a wonderful way to bring our community together,” said museum representatives. “We’re celebrating our heritage, enjoying the holidays, and helping those in need—all at the same time.”
