There’s a new bike shop in town. Actually, it is currently Bellevue’s only bike shop, and they’ve been selling, renting, and repairing electric bikes from their new storefront on Capehart Road since moving from West Omaha earlier this year.
Originally opening in his Omaha location in April 2022, Pedego + owner Lester Synder saw a great opportunity when he moved the store to Bellevue this year, officially opening on April 1. “We have yet to do any real advertising and our customer traffic has exceeded expectations,” Synder said. “Our loyal customers over the last three years continue to come see us, and lots of Bellevue, East Omaha, and Iowa customers have been joining our family of friends.”
Synder said the decision to relocate his business to Bellevue was easy for several reasons, including its proximity to where he lives, which makes the daily commute much shorter. He mentioned that Bellevue also offered a unique opportunity, “We had the unique opportunity to be ‘Bellevue’s Bike Shop‘ as there are currently no other bike shops operating here.”
Synder also mentioned that the space he found at 2871 Capehart Road is close enough to the Bellevue Loop Trail that customers who rent their bikes can access the trail fairly quickly.
Synder’s business began as a Pedego Dealership store in 2022, under a dealer agreement to sell only the Pedego Brand. “Pedego is a well-established electric bike brand offering top quality electric bikes backed up by the best warranty in the entire electric bike space and sold only in authorized bike stores,” Synder said. “A key focus of Pedego was to be sure their buyers had in-person warranty service and support after the sale. Starting in 2025 Pedego modified dealer arrangements allowing dealers who chose to introduce other electric bike brands and other mobility products to do so. With our move to Bellevue, we began carrying what are now a total of 6 brands offering bikes that are similar quality to the Pedego brand that fill gaps in our Pedego lineup. We anticipate future brand introductions as we continue to grow in Bellevue.”
While Pedego bikes are still their top seller, Synder mentioned they are seeing a great response to the Vvolt and Urtiopia bikes as well. “The Vvolt line is unique in that the bikes utilize a belt drive system and are lighter weight than many other brands. The Urtopia bikes feature carbon frames. Three of the Urtopia models are well under 40 pounds, and some of their bikes have some very high-tech features like security that allows you to geo-fence your bike; set it to recognize only your fingerprint to turn on; track all your rides through their app; and track your bike if it were to go missing.”
Several of the top selling models sell for under $2,500 and some under $2,000. Other specialized models can go for over $4,000. Occasionally, Pedego will have trade-in bikes for sale that can be under $1,000.
Along with the electric bikes, Pedego carries bicycle equipment and accessories including helmets, bags, baskets, care and cleaning products, and carriers. More basic items like bells, mirrors, and other accessories are also available.
In addition to selling electric bikes, Pedego is a full-service shop. “If we sell it, we service it,” Synder said. “We are also an authorized repair center for many brands we don’t carry. One unique service we offer is custom fitting a bike or trike to riders who may have injuries or other issues limiting their range of motion in the hips and knees. We utilize some products that help us get people riding bikes who didn’t think they were able to any longer!”

We are experts in the e-bike arena and we know our way around the bike world. We are not bike snobs – you will be treated like a welcome friend when you visit our shop.”
Synder mentioned that they are a father-and-son family operation and, as such, generally are not hiring. However, Snyder said that if there are any current or aspiring bike mechanics looking for part-time work, he would be happy to talk to them. Synder also talked about community partnership opportunities. “We don’t have the personnel resources to actively go out and pursue community outreach programs and other partnerships, but we are wide open to hearing from any groups who might see a partnership opportunity,” Synder said. “In our off season, we can offer our skills to groups who may want to learn about topics such as: bike safety; how to service your own bike; proper transporting of bikes; advice on riding the local trail systems; general education about electric bikes and much more.”
